TRACC Uganda is an important collaboration between different units and individuals from the Rotary Clubs based around Calgary and other parts of Alberta. They have spent the last five years raising money to improve the lives and communities in Uganda and were looking for a Calgary marketing agency that understood the mission of the program and could reflect that in a custom website. It was a privilege to be involved in the program and to design a website that helped the work move forward.
The website was intentionally left clean and simple, with little fuss to represent the fact that the program is about the people and moving the program forward than busy or flashy detail. The Rotary club is an established and well-respected institution and the gravitas that their support provided was all the endorsement needed to raise the profile of the page, so the branding revolved around their logo. Neutral tones were selected, with a layered look of clean lines and straightforward boxes to provide and uncomplicated appearance and to accentuate the photographic images.
The photographic images were a key to the success of the campaign. We selected group shots of happy people, prospering with the help provided, as well as a window into where the money was being used. We made sure they had color and vibrancy, as well as a human aspect to each image. These moving photos translated well to the differing size and resolution requirements of the handheld devices and mobile criteria. They allowed the screen to be resized to fit the device without losing clarity and impact. The menus and menu placement were also abridged to make navigation and ease of use transparent and inviting. Large and unavoidable call to action buttons were placed under the central images so that the eye was naturally drawn to them, engaging the user into getting deeper into the site.
The Rotary club was so impressed with the design and outcome of the project that they involved us in other projects they were working on. They were thrilled that their expectations had been exceeded and with the interpretation of their vision.
